My daughter has a blackberry and is currently being harrassed by an ex boyfriend. I tried to activate parental controls but it is saying that this feature doesnt work with her phone? I will call Verizon but wanted to see if anyone had any advice on how to block him from being able to contact her. Thank you

Hi,

This is a serious problem.  In some states, this could be considered stalking.  Here is what I would do as a parent.  First, contact your local police to file a report.  Then contact Verizon Wireless.  If they harassing person is a Verizon customer also, then you could use Vtext.com to stop harassing texts.  If he is not, that won't work, they will have to physically put a block on her phone from receiving calls or texts from his number.  That could take a couple of days to process.  Another option, would be to have her number changed to a new number.  Make sure a written log of the time and date of when the calls occur is kept if they continue and that can be given to the police.  If she fears for her life, do not hesitate to call the police, so they can visit the person.  Usually, this will stop the calls.  Good luck with this problem.

There's an app for that!

In the Crackberry.com store there's an application called Black & Whitelist that will help you block specific numbers or unknown/restricted numbers. You do have to pay, it's about $18 but it may be worth it. There's a 15 day trial to test it out.

So give that a shot

By the way, dialing *67 + the number only blocks YOUR caller ID while calling him.
