Bold 9650 as EVDO modem
arkansized
Newbie

My Alltel plan offers unlimited data. I don't want to pay for 3g tethering because 1) I don't need the speed 2) 3g service is unavailable at other locations where I travel and 3) I don't like the data caps with 3g. We regularly travel to remote locations and EVDO always worked fine with the Curve 8330 and the laptop.

I want to use the Bold as an EVDO modem but have had trouble getting it to recognize the EVDO network. It always defaults to 3g. This is a brand new v.6 Bold and I have latest desktop manager software.

Thanks for any suggestions!

In order to use your BlackBerry Bold as a modem, you need to have both the $29.99 data plan and the $20.00 2 GB (or $44.99 for corporate accounts with the $15 5 GB plan) tethering plan on your account. If you are certain that both are in place, in order to troubleshoot further, we need to know if you are using Windows OS (which version), or Macintosh. To troubleshoot further, please PM me with your wireless number, an alternate contact number and a good time to contact you, and I'll be happy to reach out to you.

Thanks,
