Can I change the caller id settings on my storm?

When I am making outgoing calls, my number shows up. Not my name. Is there a way to have my name and number show up on the caller id? I've read Verizon does not have this as an option, but I am asking just to make sure...

thanks for your help. :smileyvery-happy:

well i noticed something in my phone a week ago....i'm running 5.0.0.323 OS and when i go to phone options...general....it has an option to show my number(yes/no) and also a restrict my identity (network determined, always, never) now i'm not sure if those options will change your name to show...i just changed mine on restrict my identity...and i clicked never...so i'm going to call a friend and see if my name now shows up...report back later.

Hi,

I tried that on my Tour with my land line at home.  I tried with the default settings and then changed the Restrict My Identity to Never from Network Determined and it made no difference.  The calls show up as City,State and Number.  It will not show the name.  I do know that when I was with Alltel, it always showed my name and number on caller ID land lines.  I'm sure it is a switch setting with the towers or some technical thing way above my head.

I spent over an hour on the phone with Verizon tech support over a week ago on this same issue. I use to have a Texas only plan and my name showed up when I called someone. If I wanted to block my ID there is a * something you push before dialing.  I told Verizon this and I said I would sign any waiver to get my name to show, because most, like me, do not answer calls that do not show the caller ID. She agreed with me, she doesn't answer her phone unless she knows who the caller is. This is a big issue with me because they, the caller, have to leave a voice mail message before I or others will talk to them. Now if it is someone you / they  know, then when you call, your name will show because you are in their contact list. What a bunch of **bleep** " our safety ", come on we are big boys and girls. I really think this is an issue that should go to the very TOP at Verizon to see about getting a change in their policy. Why can't we make the determination to see who it is that is calling us? I cannot say enough about this problem, it wastes our time and minutes used. Most Telemarketers block their ID so I don't answer anyway, but it could be a business or a friend I have not spoken with in a long time, who knows? So if a Verizon moderator would pick this up and send it up the corp. ladder to someone who can make policy change, it would be appreciated. Maybe we need a poll on here about this? Anyone know how to create a poll on here? Maybe I am in left field and the majority could care less?  :smileytongue:
