Can I transfer contacts from a Samsung Intensity II to a Blackberry Q10 myself? Or do I have to take it to a store?

Hello dhinch, Congrats on your new Blackberry Q10! I know the importance of being able to transfer your contacts, so thanks StreetDocRN, for providing great options, here. I also want to help in advising that you can transfer your contacts from your Samsung Intensity II to your Q10, using our Backup Assistant option. Here's a link that will be helpful: http://vz.to/1lQod67. It provides step by step instructions on how to do so. Thanks for being part of our Community and keep us posted on how this works for you.

Hi, dhinch
Yes, you can easily trasfer contacts and other data such as photos from your old device to your BlackBerry Q10 on your own. Like the old saying goes, there's more than one way to skin a cat, so it goes with data transfer. You can go about this a few ways, so here is a site that will explain how to easily do the task yourself Transfer from iPhone & Android to BlackBerry 10 Smartphones - US
Here's a video that will show one of the ways to transfer contacts.

Thank you. Unfortunately, all of the instructions pertain only to other smartphones (Android, iPhone, older BB), there does not seem to be any mention of transferring data from standard mobile phones. I put all my contacts from my old phone on a micro SD card but when I insert that in the Blackberry it does not recognize the content. Same goes when I tried it from my laptop using the direct link.

Hi,
You might try using Bluetooth to transfer them. Also, if there is anyway to save them from the Samsung to Gmail as contacts, then you could simply associate the Gmail account on your Q10 after the contacts are uploaded. Just a thought.

The easiest way is to set up either Gmail or Outlook.com on the old phone, sync contacts to the cloud, and then set up that same account on the new Q10.

Agreed, I use Gmail for all my contacts and they follow me across every platform.
