Can you use an unlocked phone on Verizon's network?

Called Verizon and they said no. Is that right? If I go and buy an unlocked phone (because they don't sell the phone I want), I won't be able to use it on their network?

No you will not. They do not allow non verizon IMEI's on their network.

If this is an unlocked GSM phone, then it will never work on CDMA network used by Verizon Wireless.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

This is correct and is programmed into the SIM card.
