Computer fails to recognizes BB Bold 9930 in attempts to backup and unload data.

I down loaded the Blackberry Desktop Manager to backup my calendar, contacts and download pictures.  My computer does not recognize my phone so I can start the service.  I suspect the USB drive as my battery check when hooked up to the computer shows an error of slow charging due to missing RIM USb driver.  Anybody else have trouble linking to their PC?
