Alright. I'm in a debate right now with someone and they said that you HAVE to have the Data plan if you have a blackberry. I told them that you don't have to get the data plan that offers the internet and so forth and you can just get the Text messaging plan. Am I correct in saying this or do I need to apologize and say that I was wrong?
Every blackberry requires a data plan of $29.99 or $44.99 on top of the monthly plan. Text plan is apart from the Internet & Email plan. So you are wrong saying it doesn't require a data plan.

Looks like AT&T will start requiring it also. They have to generate more money so they can upgrade their 3G network coverage so they can post a new map!
AT&T already started....it was Nov 15th of this year I think. Only one left that doesn't require data plan is T-mobile.
Actually, there was a point where Verizon was allowing BB's to be activated on the Nationwide Connect plans without a BB plan. This began about a year ago, but seems to have been phased out since.
If you provide your own Blackberry you probably won't be required to add the $29.99 data feature, but IF you USE the Internet IT WILL BE COSTLY. If VZW supplies you the PDA/SMARTPHONE or BB You MUST have the $29.99 or $44.99 Enterprise Data Feature Plan.

You keep saying that, but I'm pretty positive that anytime a BB or PDA is activated to a Verizon account (barring the older PDAs) it will require the addition of a data package. It will either be added automatically, or the system will refer the customer to customer care to handle the change.
Yeah lol. Jagger, you need to go into infocenter and read it because wether you buy a phone at retail or bring your own you will still require data plan.
