Device software upgrade

I tried downloading the new os for the Tour from Blackberry using the DM. It locked my phone up. It said that there was a Java error. I took it to the Verizon store and they couldn't help. I tried Blackberry but they wanted to charge me. Verizon Support got my phone unlocked and had me download an older OS. I lost some things that the program hadn't backed up. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes, many people were having this problem, which is why the update got pulled altogether.

Lesson learned, I will wait until others have had no problems on updates, before I update my Storm.

 I assume thru desktop mgr. there is a back up program to back up all our apps and ringtones, etc we have on our phone?

I did lose a few apps but I just re downloaded them.

I heard that RIM pullled it but Verizon approved it.Any truth to that?
