EBAY PHONE??

I currently have an LG Voyager and wanted to upgrade to a blackberry Tour but my plan isnt up for almost 2 years. I am debating about trying to purchase a blackberry threw ebay instead because I know it will be cheaper. I noticed that most of the phones say unlocked so does this mean that all i have to do is go to a verizon store to transfer my service and add the blackberry package?

Keep in mind that if something goes wrong, Verizon will not support it and you will be out the money paid for that phone.

I can't say I blame you, I love the Blackberry platform since messaging is my primary concern for business use.

When it says unlocked it means you will be able to use it with any GSM company in the US and abroad besides VZW but it doesnt matter because as long as you are a verizon customer they will unlock it for you when you request it.  Just make sure the phone is brand new and ESN is clean because some people there will cell phones that are on a lost/stolen list and won't be able to be activated.

so as long as the phone is brand new with a clean ESN i can take it to a verizon dealer? wouldnt they discourage this kind of thing since your not actually buying it from the company and how does that work as far as transfering your call package?

Well, it doesn't have to be new, it can be used also but as long as the esn is clean you can activate it.  If you take it to any dealer, some of them charge you a fee for transfering ESN so you can either call customer service and have them do it; you'll be able to keep your plan and just add the blackberry data plan.

Last week I bought a blackberry Curve on ebay and so far it's worked beautifully...The phone looked new and the ESN was clean...The most most important thing is that the ESN is clean...If it's not it's worthless.   I called Verizon, had them hook the phone up, changed my plan and it's been fine.
