Hello,
I work for a law firm that just converted from Windows CE devices to Blackberry 9630 Tours. One of the decisions that drove this choice was Blackberries ability to function well internationally or something like that. My problem, could be something as easy as RTFM, is that we have three lawyers that traveled abroad. Two to different area's of Africa, I know it could be hit or miss, and one to the UK. Well we are 0 for 3 in getting the Blackberries to work.
Here is what we do when staging the BB for international travel:
1. Call Verizon to check coverage for the target area
2. Activate Global Calling and Data. Its not enabled by default.
Are there steps 3 and 4 etc;
I need some assistance on this, I think the lawyers are going to throw IT out the window. No they won't but it is a bit embarrassing.
Regards

You also need to make sure the vodafone sim that came with the phone is in the system. One time I traveled to central america and even though I had the global data plan I was not able to use it until I made sure the sim # was in the system.

Just spoke with the person who does the setups and the SIM # are registered in the system. Is there anything on the BB device that has to be set manually?

Make sure the Mobile Network Options are set for Global Roaming
From the Home Screen:
1. Open Options
2. Open Mobile Network
3. Make sure Data Services While Roaming is On
3. For Network Selection Mode make sure Automatic is selected
4. For Network Technology make sure Global is selected
5. Press the BB Menu Key to Save
Also, it's also a good idea to update the phone's roaming capabilities here in the states in the VZW coverage area by dialing *228 and choosing option 2.
