I have tried to re-install Facebook, delete, turn off the wireless...several " tricks" nothing...I have two FB messages that won't go away. Also, I received a refurb because the original BB would not keep a charge. Now there is sand in my phone?
My experience with Facebook is you have to open Facebook on your phone and then click BB Menu, then options in the list. Now be sure none of these boxes are tiked: BB Calendar,BB Message app,BB Contacts app,Prompt before refreshing, tik spell check, tik Facebook notifications, tick Auto check for newer versions,do not tik Share my Locations, then click BB Menu and then save. Now pull battery and reinstall and you should be fine now.
