GPS Device on 8830 Unlock?

Will anybody tell me by upgrde my 8830 BB OS to latest v4.5.0.186 (Platform 3.4.0.59) . will it unlock GPS device from Verizon and use it with a 3rd party software?

If so, what steps are involved after upgrade the OS?

Unfortunately even if you update the software, you will not be able to use the GPS with a 3rd party application.
