Goodbye Verizon

I am a long-time BlackBerry user (the Storm2 is my 6th model BB I have owned).  I have upgraded as newer & better BlackBerry smartphones came out.  Over the years, I have become increasingly frustrated over Verizon's shady business practices.  From crippling GPS-enabled phones to crippling bluetooth to now forcing Bing on us.  Their customer service has been horrible.  I purchased the Storm2 when it came out because I really wanted the phone.  After Verizon's COMPLETE disregard for their customers by forcing Bing on us, and the response I received from their customer service, I knew it was time for me to make a change.  As a result, I have moved both my company-issued phone as well as my personal phone to AT&T.

I hope Verizon starts listening to their customers before they become former customers like I am now.

Wasn't it a RiM/Blackberry thing, that pushed the Bing search? I don't think Verizon has much to deal with it. And, why would Verizon push for Bing to Blackberry devices when they are pro-Google with Android devices?

I don't think your problem lies with Verizon as much as it lies with the creators of the BB OS.

No it was a Verizon thing, Big Money changed hands to make BING their #1 (and only option on Verizons Homepage in your browser) So the original post is Correct.

I'm wondering about the ETF, I'm assuming it was waived in light of their own policy rules. Good Luck with the other company, I find most of the others cheaper and maybe a little more in touch with their customers, but the SERVICE sucks. Problem is BIG RED has gotten too BIG!

"I'm wondering about the ETF, I'm assuming it was waived in light of their own policy rules." Mac-can you expand on that a bit. I'm seriously thinking of going this route with the changes they have been making. It's not what I signed up for.

Yeah, in a previous discussion on the forums we had Verizons policy linked, and it stated in their that customers would be notified of ANY changes to their service prior to the event, and in such case if adversely affected could drop their service with NO ETF. Look for Verizons contract terms it's in there.

Unfortunately you were looking at the wrong part of the contract....This doesn't allow you to cancel without and ETF. Do you really think Verizon would do something so large that will allow all the blackberry users to cancel without an ETF!?

This is the part of the contract that allows them to do this.

I don't know about Bing, (I don't use it):smileywink: But I don't think Verizon really "cripple" Bluetooth, pardon me for correcting the proper word (I thInk is) "disable."  It would depend on whichever phone you have concerning what your using Bluetooth for. As for AT&T, their ETF is more than Verizon's, but good luck.:smileysurprised:

Pardon me for stating the obvious, but when you turn off Bluetooth to increase battery life, it says "Bluetooth disabled" until you turn it back on. I'm sure the OP knows this, as he's on his sixth BB, but someone else might not.

All I'm going to say is I'm sorry the OP is not happy with Verizon. I hope the "other" carrier treats the OP better then Verizon.:smileywink:

If the OP lives in NY or one ofthe other major metropolitan cities mntioned in various reports and buys an iPhone hopefully he an make phone calls and has decent data speeds or he may go to Sprint/Nextel next (stomach getting knotted up at the thought of Sprint) lol.

You're leaving Verizon over an icon that you can always hide, and a home page that you can always set back to your old one?

Wow, what happens when a restaurant discontinues your favorite food?  Things change, and if Verizon decided to make this change, it was for a reason - have you actually tried using Bing yet?  It's different, but not necessarily inferior to Google.
