I can hear my phone ring but when I go to answer it the person on the other end cannot hear me and I cannot hear them. I have tried the hard re-set and it will work for the first call (only via speaker) but after that it goes back to not being able to hear anything. I can play music, ringtones etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info SydneyK. Your correct, if they have tried a hard reset and removed the battery from the blackberry for 1-2 minutes and it has not resolved the issue it may be a hardware issue. You can try resetting the volume settings on y our device using the directions below:
1. In the phone, press the Menu key.
2. Click Options.
3. Click General Options.
4. Set the Default Call Volume field.
5. Press the Menu key.
6.Click Save.
Your phone would need to be evaluated by a store representative to find out if your phone is having defectiveness or damage.

Do the calls stay connected (ruling out service issues)? Are you the only one who's owned this phone, or did you recently buy it from someone else? The fact that there's a problem with the speaker (hearing others) AND the microphone (them hearing you) sounds like it could be damage, either from dropping or moisture. But it's a bit strange that the speaker works fine for music and ringtones.
I'm sorry I don't have an answer. I guess I would stop in a Verizon store and see if someone can troubleshoot for you.
