Haz Verizon stopped selling the Blackberry Z30?

The Blackberry Z30 seems to have completely disappeared from the Verizon website -- links to the product now just take you to a generic all-phones page.  Verizon has been an abysmal "partner" for Blackberry (considering they were given an exclusive on the Z30), by doing everything they could to discourage people from buying it, but it looks like now they're walking away from BB's premier device.

Hi, rsteer

It is possible they sold out temporarily of the Z30.  I know they had it on sale the past couple of weeks on contract price.  You can get one through AmazonWireless on Verizon's network at a low price.

I can't believe I spelled "Has" with a "z"!

As for being out of stock, if that were the case, wouldn't you expect the *product page* sti still be on Verizon's website, with a "temporarily out of stock" or "delivery expected by ..." note?  I don't know any retailer who completely removes something from their catalog just because it's temporarily out of stock.  Amazon is *almost* out of stock too -- when I looked they had something like three Z30s left.

I agree with everything you wrote.  Verizon (in their stores) does not give BlackBerry a chance.  They would rather sell you an Android or iPhone device.  Don't get me wrong, both of those are great platforms, but if someone wants a great device that handles email, messaging, texting, and web browsing, the BlackBerry 10 devices can't be beat.

I guess this coming week we will see if the Z30 reappears back on the web site.

Lets just hope in 2015 Verizon opens it arms wide to Blackberry seeing it sold all its Z30's. I show my friends with Iphones and Samsung devices my z30 and the things it does to make my life easier and most often question asked is  "why doesn't my phone do that". I could list ten things right now my buddies on Iphones look amazed and stunned. DO ANY OF YOU KNOW WHAT A HUB IS??  LOL    As for my battery life on my Z30 its amazing and like no other phone I have ever seen or used. Pleas don't mention apps cause my BB can run all the Android apps and in the next version of BB10.3 Amazons App store will be on the desktop. I don't want to leave Verizon with my three lines but if another carrier has the Passport, or I can order on oneline.. I may make the jump.  I just know in my heart Verizon will have the Passport.

after researching for months watching the market in preparation  for my renewal date this month i was MASSIVELY disappointed with the Z30 being now gone just 2 weeks from my renewal .I had done my research read reviews and was all set to switch to blackberry and wanted the BEST i could get .Now its gone and many sources say its EOL ,while reps say otherwise .Very disappointed and unhappy long time cell phone customer and Verizon long term land line user . Why cant we get a 100% honest definite answer here ? If i need to switch carriers to get and use the Blackberry Z30 i will .But stop jerking us around Verizon Smiley Sad

rsteer,

I can understand your concern regarding the Blackberry devices.  I am a Blackberry user myself.  I see no information here as to when we may get more in stock.  Be sure to check our news page for any new releases or product information.  http://bit.ly/n5snpq

Also, are you currently eligible for an upgrade?  Did you have any other questions regarding our products or services?

Let us know!

Not happy with this. I'm ready to dump my Note 3 for the Z30 due to privacy concerns and I can't find the Z30 anywhere except on craigslist. C'mon Verizon.

While I was talking with a Verizon business-account representative yesterday about other issues, I asked about the Z30.  She recalled having seen it in office training this spring.  She looked it up in their system, and told me, "It says it's been discontinued."

So either Verizon is actively trying to kill off Blackberry, or Blackberry is actively trying to commit suicide.

Wonderful question rsteer. We have not received any more shipments of the Z30. We also have no gotten word from Blackberry if we will be getting anymore in either. We do still have the Q10 and the Z10 available for purchase.

Well in this one more forum let me add my voice that this is an awful decision by VZW. I got a Z30 as an upgrade from a Z10 and love it; but my wife saw it and wants to upgrade from her 9850...and can't! Not cool, VZW, not cool

Hi, pastorbrad,

This is not Verizon's fault, but BlackBerry's fault.  If you look around the internet at other places that sell the Z30 such as Amazonwireless, BlackBerry is the one who ran short of the device.  The Z30s offered for sale direct from BlackBerry are GSM models and not compatible with Verizon's CDMA network.

No, , I believe that this is Verizon's fault initially.  Blackberry was selling CDMA units for several weeks after Verizon dropped the Z30 from their website.  That means that they were still in stock at BB, but Verizon simply stopped ordering them.  (At which point Blackberry probably decided to stop making them... they evidently decided not to try to sell them to Verizon customers directly.)

I suspect that Verizon dropping the unit (and not promoting it at stores) is a breach of the agreement by which Verizon got to be the exclusive carrier in the U.S. who could offer the Z30 directly, and I hope Blackberry sues Verizon, and signs up another carrier (or two), since Verizon has clearly walked away from their "partnership" with Blackberry.

This is just up to speculation but what if Blackberry is a bad company too, just like Verizon.

What if Verizon ordered 50,000 units but Blackberry only had 20,000 units to give. So Verizon did not order any at all and BB had to seperately sell the 20,000 units they had unit they were out and didn't make more b/c they know they couldn't meet the demands Verizon wanted.

Quite a possibility if you ask me.

Verizon doesn't make the phones so how you blame this on Verizon other than just being a hater is beyond me. Of course when the iPhone was originally an At&t only device the haters blamed Verizon even though it was At&t and Apple that signed an exclusive deal and Verizon didn't have a thing to do with it. And to answer the other poster's question yes Blackberry IS actively trying to commit suicide. They have for years. They'll be dead in less than 5 years. Considering Blackberry stock is worth 1/8 what it was worth 5 years ago says everything.

After calling BB and Verizon,  Verizon has officially  RETIRED the Z30.  BB has the ability  to fulfill orders,  but there are not any current requests for the CDMA model Z30 BB.  Blackberry ought  to work better on their marketing and Verizon ought to fulfill another order or bring us a newer model.

My guess is that Verizon will offer the BB Passport as well as a rumoured LTE version of the Z3 (which may be called something else such as the Z20).  I know someone who has seen Verizon branded Passports so they are definitely at least testing that device.  I am NOT saying they will have it for sure, BUT BB has made some, and Verizon most likely IS testing the device.

Thanks for asking this, I like my Z30 and concern that second phone is needing to replace soon.  Others have asked me.  It is an easy decision based on specs and work I do need to accomplish.  Plus, I do like having ability to replace memory and battery. Change memory is a routine.  Z30 battery life has been a great accomplishment. These other spec features are outstanding and Apple is catching up. Like those 15 years before it, about 3 other blackberry models, have all been a workhorse.  I'm not in marketing or need a show pony, security and privacy are good points. Seen a lot wasted time on Android/Apple updates to unavailability, hijacks on enterprise systems, to text or phone problems. Outside of USA, both are true; Z30 model is viable and Verizon Wireless is a subsidiary.

as of 8/13/15 Verizon is still selling the Z30.. (for $199 with upgrade discount for contract holders)- they just don't have it on display anywhere.

Spoke to a manager at VZW store in Paramus, NJ and he told me they have none on hand to even show me. Said VZW instructed them to send back all units they had on hand.

Only option 3 different stores (or customer service) would offer me is to order phone and have it shipped to me.  Problem is, if I don't like the size or features of the phone I would need to pay restocking fee. (Never mind the process of setting up of phone and return shipping...)

Each time- I was pushed to purchase different phones.  Each time, I said I want to see the Z30.

BTW- if it were discontinued, why are they still offering it at full price!???

We get it it- Verizon makes more $ off other brands and could care less about BB but, it would be nice if they, at least, cared about their own customers.  BB users are loyal...I hope my loyalty doesn't have to lead me to another carrier Smiley Sad
