Help me-thinking of a Blackberry
samandi
Newbie

For the last couple years I have wanted one. Last year I just got the LG EnV 2.  Tomorrow my husband is going to get us new phones and I am once again considering the Blackberry. I am on bed rest at the moment and am doing research online to learn more.  I am wondering about the Curve and the Tour.  I really like the Curve but have read some things stating that it freezes often.

Which one would you recommend? Or is there another BB you like more? This question is incredibly **bleep** but I thought I read somewhere that the BB's require software updates...how often and how much does that cost?

Hi there.

No need to worry about software updates. You don't even HAVE to do them, but they're there if you want to take advantage of improvements and updates. And that only requires installing a free update from a website ... not sure if  BB or Verizon, as I've never updated mine.

Have you tried a trackball vs. a trackpad? That is one difference between the Tour and Curve 2, and I find the trackpad an improvement but I've never had a problem with my ball. The Curve 2 does not have camera flash, which was a deal breaker for me, and the Tour has that and Wi-Fi. Many have said the build quality of the Tour is better than the Curve 2, and many have also said they've had trackball problems with the Tour. I did hear that Verizon now replaces trackballs on the spot if you stop in.

If you want the latest and greatest and can wait, the Tour 2 is reported to have a trackpad and all the other bells and whistles you could want. It's not officially been announced though, so no one will be able to tell you how long you'll have to wait. You'll spend at least $200 on one though and won't get any BOGO deals on a new device.

Good luck deciding and let us know what your husband comes home with!
