I am so anger at Storm and Verizon

I am so **bleep** as the storm really sucks. It should be a great PDA but it ii slow, locks up. Won't keep more than about 100 emails due to memory issues???

There are so many good units out there but Verizon won't bring them in. The I phone is so superior that RIM looks like a high school project.

If any other carrier could provide the coverage that Verizon does I would switch in a heartbeat, even gladly pay the early fee.

I am so feed up with how much better the I phone is over the storm,

What is wrong with Verizon. {keep it courteous}

Just needed to vent but ya I am going to leave and go with the I phone.

Do you want any help first or are you determined to go? I have Storm and no problems.

Hey there,

Sorry you are having problems.  If you regularly delete your email from your Storm, you should not have lock ups.  Rebooting the device every couple of days helps to free up some built up memory issues too.

The Iphone is a great device, I'm sure.  I don't own either the Storm or the Iphone, but I don't think they were designed to be replicas of each other.  They each have their unique differences.  For now, try my suggestion from above and delete some email and see if your performance gets better.

Pardon my ignorance if you are still out there why would you want to keep your email on a hand held device? Most if not all eliminate them and any they need to save, would be done on home Comp. or Laptop. I am sure that is what is causing your problems.

I am on the road most of the time. My customer jobs last about 4 to 8 weeks ave. I need to comunicate with my customers and to have the emails releated to the job is a great benifit. My storm deletes them after about 10 days. I have talked to RIM support over 8 hours. They even sent me a new phone. I have only one application that did not come already installed and that is "shortcovers" an e-book reader. My free memory is wide open acording to the techs and they do not know why my storm only saves 10 days.

Funny Rim specs say the storm will save 65,000 messages. Yes that is 65 thousand.  Mine stores about 300.

I have gone over every setting there is wih techs from Verizon and RIM including upper level techs. I have tried blackberry forum but nothing has worked other than to convince me that the storm is not that good of a pda

My Storm has a setting you can set for how long to keep emails. I will try and find where it was I set mine, and get back to you.

I have set all the settings. Save mail for 3 months. Wireless Reconcile - off, In outlook I have to leave on server for 3 months. I have 2 email accounts and 1 text message. Each will hold approx 100 messages. From there when something new comes in, it deletes the oldest one. Has anyone checked to see how many emails there storm has.

Maybe you have this setting, but under general options, last item is Keep Messages Days up to 6 Months or Forever if you want that.  Under Actions, which is  under General Options, they should all read: YES. My Wireless Reconcile - is set to ON where yours is set to off I have no idea if that makes a diff.?

You didn't mention On Conflicts, which is right under Wireless Reconcile, I have " Mailbox Wins"

I hope this helps you. Change under  General Options, Then Actions, Keep Messages for" Forever"  be sure to use back up key and click SAVE. Then I would close everything, turn off Storm using red phone Button, pull bat. and then re install bat. and wait until timer goes completely away, maybe be 10 or 15 minutes. If timer doesn't show right away press the red phone (OFF) button again and it should start up. Let timer run until it is gone.

I will give it a go (again) but I have done all of this before. Nothing seems to work. Rim told a little fib when they said it will hold 65,000 messages.

How many emails do you have?

If you hold the phone in portrait posistion, open email, show keyboard, the cv key goes to the last email, the er key goes to first email, When at last email the jk key goes up one day at a time (this is if you have SureTyhpe keyboard enabled)

I have no idea how many emails mine will hold, because as fast as I read them, I delete them. I don't like the suretype I use the Qwerty keyboard.

From what I've heard VZW is slated to get the iPhone next year so hold out till then if you can stand it.  I would also ask that you consider the source when focusing your anger and not the seller.  VZW is simply a third party distributor for RIM and is not responsible for product quality.  I have a Storm since April and it works great for me.  I don't try and keep hundreds of emails on it b/c like someone else said, i read, delete, and if I need the email I just delete on handheld so it's kept on the server.  Something else you might try, is getting a gmail address as now there is a gmail plugin for BB that threads your messages.  If you don't know what I mean, it allows you to see multiple emails from the same individual as 1 email which might help your situation.  I love it and it works seemlessly on my Storm.  Here are some other tips below for you.

To keep your BB running smooth, simple maintenance practices are necessary to get the best BB experience. Think of your BB as a computer that after a while gets bogged down if too many programs are running or memory is running low. This is tailored to Storm users, but general navigation and benefit should be relative to all BBs. Here's how.

1. During general use CLOSE using the BB menu button (spotted button) out of everything you do from programs to desktop menu icons, do not escape with the 180 back arrow or red button. Why? Because open programs or applications take up valuable resources/memory and in some cases cause extra battery drainage; think Weatherbug or BerryWeather. How do I know if everything is closed? From your home screen hold down your BB menu button until a row of icons comes up, all you should have is: Home, BB IM, Message Envelope, Call Icon, and Browser Icon.

2. On a DAILY basis, soft reset your device with a free application such as "Quickpull" or pull your battery out to bring your phone back to its peak operating efficiency. This is like restarting your computer and will also solve many issues or errors you might run into while using this device. So if something is not working, you've got no sound, the phone is very sluggish, whatever the case may be, a soft reset on your handheld will a lot of times be just the cure you're looking for. "Quickpull" will allow you to schedule resets which I like to do in the a.m. before I wake up for a fresh phone.

3. On a weekly basis, clean your memory by going to Options>Security Options>Memory Cleaning>BB menu button>clean now. You can set memory cleaning to automatically clean at a certain threshold if you're so inclined. Also, from the home screen in landscape mode hit BB menu button>bring up your keyboard>type "/"/ >BB menu button>Clear Log>Delete.

4. On a weekly basis, clear your browser cache by opening your browser>BB menu button>Cache Operations>Clear history.

Most of the Blackberry complaint threads on this, and other forums, always seem to come down to the iPhone and how superior it is. Sorry you are having problems with your Storm but there is nothing stopping you from getting an iPhone. All you have to do is become a customer of AT&T. But I am guessing since you use your phone for business you already ready know a move to the iPhone would be adding to your problems not taking away from them.

You bet, if ATT had a decent service I would jump but every time I talk to someone that has ATT they remind me not to do it. I understand there is a rumor of Apple making a device for Verizon in the future when Verizon goes to the new 4g system. I read somewhere that Apple does not want to make a cdma phone as it will be obsolete shortly. I am just very disappointed in RIM.

AT&T just announced any phone in their lineup is .01Ct or maybe it was a $1 with a new 2 year contract. So go switch to the I-Phone if you think it is so superior.
