Anyone know how to move the BB IPD files that have our phone contacts saved on computer in the back up file folder? My comp and phone both crashed at the same time. In trying to save phone I lost all and then got a new S2 but there was nothing to restore so we went into HD but it is now my second HD and the primary (C) is the current HD. I found the back up files and all the file cabs can be moved but not the IPD's and those are where the contacts actually are. When you try to drag them out of the file folder it says you cannot do this. I only need one to get all my contacts.

Hey,
My backup files are listed on my hard drive in the My Documents folder in a folder named Blackberry by default. It is in a sub folder named backup. It sounds like the files or the folder was write protected. You will need to make sure the file has no stipulations on it, such as read only. Right click on the .ipd file and make sure all the boxes are clear such as read only. If those are clear, then check the backup folder and make sure it is not write protected. You will have to go up the hierachy tree for the folders to check and see if any of the folders or sub folders are write protected. Then, you should be able to copy and paste the files to your new hard drive.

Can you name your old HD, like 😧 and then use DM to navigate to the ipd file and restore your contacts?

Hi,
Agreed with SuzyQ. The .rar files can be opened with an unzipping utility. Many are free or free for a trial basis. One such program that I use is WinZip. Go to their website and you can download the program for a trial basis, which should be long enough for you to unzip the file. After that, you should be able to copy and paste the files to your new hard drive.

I just didn't understand when I installed winrar why every BB back up file got compressed into winrar. I didn't tell it to. The same problem still exists, trying to get the compressed file or opened file to move, the IPDs will not move even checking up the tree Doc.
