I live out in the country and I have been looking at,,, IN HOME REPEATERS,,, so I can have full service in the house,,,right now I kinda do but I need to have my tin hat on and one arm in the air,,LOL,,well maybe not quite that bad but it is spotty for sure
Do any of you have one of these things??? If so what kind and how is it working out for you??
If I can get my new tour (when it gets here) to work at the house,,,I my just turn off the line phone
OCHARRY, I would wait until you receive your new BB Tour, they (BBs) seem to have a better pick up range than your average phone. Have you gone to Verizon's main web page and looked at the Verizon coverage map for your area?
I have had VZW service for a long time and right now I have one of their Motorola phones,,I really like it but thought I needed to upgrade to keep up with my kids,,,LOL,,,and the Verizon people gave me a deal that was really hard to turn down on this Tour upgrade,,,,I normally do a New every Two deal with them anyway,,and my time wouldn't be up till sometime in May I think,,I was planning on doing the upgrade then anyway,,VZW did an early early contract renewal
But the service out here is kinda spotty,,,I can drive up the road about a mile and everything works fine,,,I will say in the last few years it has gotten way better though
I have had service since 02 and in July when they did the Alltel deal I started having problems all the time searching for network on my Nokia phone which I loved. I had a Texas only plan 1000 anytime min for $49 a month. They said the problem was the TX only and I needed to go nationwide which I fought for 45 days having to switch batteries 3 times a day. I got another of the same phone from them for $50 plus 3 new batteries and nothing fixed it. I finally gave up and went to this nation wide plan with the storm and am paying roughly $20 a month more than my old plan with no data, but I only have 450 minutes. They explained since becoming Unemployed I am not using 1000 min. not even 450, so if I ever go over I can call them and have them up me to the next level if that is less than the overage fee and then call back after bill goes out, and have them change back to the Min. plan. Anyway I have gone off topic, since the switch 8/30 I have had excellent coverage with my BB and no more searching for network. Works in my home just great, no matter where I am in the house. My wife is quite upset with me because I am always fiddling with phone fine tuning it. Anyway try your new phone and it's coverage before you go spending big $$ on the repeater.
Thanks for the reply,,I have the nation wide coverage,,,and I like it
I just live out in the country and have been looking at these in home repeaters for a few days,,,thinking if I could get the new phone to work out here I would turn off the house phone,,,and save $60 a month
You are right though about waiting till the new one gets here to see how it works here at home,,,new phone technology is just like all the other electronic stuff,,,blink your eyes and you are out dated,,,LOL
Well you can understand why I didn't want or need nationwide coverage because I never travel out of Texas. I could call out of TX without any extra costs, but not make calls from another state if I was traveling, which I don't. I added a Time Warner RR digital phone for $24.99 a month so I could fax resumes out. Both Time Warner and AT&T have the digital phone option if you can get either one. When I lived at the lake in a remote area all we could have was dialup and that meant an additional line so I wouldn't tie up our primary phone line. I had a $25 Verizon line cost plus another $25 for dial up service, ( this was before Netzero ) as you can see it cost me more than now, with highspeed, thru RR. RR cost is $29 a month. I have the 3 way pkg. Cable TV, RR, and digital phone. Then of course there is the Verizon bill. I may at some time in the future decide to drop the land line. At 65 jobs that I would do are scarce.
Sure I see your point
I move around some and all my family is in another state so I need the national coverage
One thing is for certain,,,nothing ever stays the same,,they are telling me to give the new BB at least 10 days before I make any decisions about it,,whether to keep it or not,,,I dought it will take ten days,,,I am kind of a gadget guy,,I like the new electronic toys,,,LOL,,,that's for sure
I think your biggest problem may be initially setting up the phone. I suspect you are having it mailed to you?
Yep you suspected right
I hope it's not that hard,,,all it really needs to do is get my e-mail and a few other things,,nothing real fancy
And I do have you guys to help with the hard stuff,,,,,and there is a VZW store not to far from here if all else fails,,LOL
Save this number,800-922-0204 and when you are ready after charging it up call and go thru the prompts until you get to tech support, then say Blackberry and it will put you with a Verizon BB team specialist who can walk you thru setting the proper settings to get your email going. You will need to use your land line phone to call them because they want to BB off line. If you have trouble setting to transfer of service and or contacts then just go to the store assuming it is a Verizon owned store and not a kiosk type store.
