No Network Connection

I have never had good service at home in Pasadena, but now it is nonexistent.  The devise (Blackberry Tour) is constantly searching for the network and I am unable to receive e-mails, text messages or phone calls.  The battery is always dead (yes, it is a new battery) because of the constant searching for the network.  Any thoughts?

Is the issue everywhere or mostly in one location???

Try updating your PRL (preferred roaming list). Dial *228 from your Tour, then choose option 2. This helps the phone choose the best coverage on the home network and while roaming.

You can also try keeping Wi-Fi turned on to see if that helps with battery life. In areas with a weak network connection but a strong Wi-Fi connection, it may help.

If it is a tour there is not wifi in it, the replacement Bold 9650 has it though.  Turn the mobile network options to  1XEV and not global.  Now this will disable the gsm radio and you will not have the option the call 911 from another carrior like ATT or Tmobile but it will reduce the drain on the battery.  updating the roaming profiles does help.  does anyone else you know with Verizon have the same issue.  If they do not you may have a bad phone.  a powered repeater can help when you are at home.  they are not cheap $300 and up.  they were made for boaters because the distance from shore.  they are now used in rural areas or in large metal buldings.
