My other Blackberry Curve, I was able to get the weather radar loop.
I upgraded to the more expensive Blackberry Storm 2 9550 and now I can't get the weather radar loop.
I get e-mail and the internet with my data plan and nothing has changed except an upgraded phone.
I have gone to the options section and even set the options to the exact same as was my Blackberry Curve and STILL no weather radar loop.
I work out side and the radar loop is a must for me and my crew.
I got the new Storm for the larger screen to read PDF files and emails and to view a larger weather radar map which is animated (or loops).
I hate to think I just spent 279.00 on the Storm 2 and it can't do what my Curve did!
This was supposed to be an upgrade, not a downgrade. Not for this kind of money!!
Can anyone please tell me how to make the Storm 2 9550 work properly, to get the weather radar loop?
Thank you ahead of time for your help with this.

Personally I use Weatherbug. It has so many preferences, you can set plus how often it auto updates the weather anywhere from 15 min to 4 hrs or off. If set to off it will update when ever you push the Icon. When set to any of the min. or hours then the last time it auto updated will show on Icon on your home screen. Also you can change zipcode to another area you may be going to, and it will show the weather, plus any alerts for that area and if you want, it can save the other areas you put in.
Try it you'll like it.
If this helped, a Kudo would be appreciated.

Thank you LCromwell, for your input and for the Weatherbug info. Pretty nice site.
However, I can not get their animated radar map to loop either.
I do appreciate your response and will probably use your Weatherbug info if I can get the radar map to loop.
I have tried a lot of different sites and options and can not get "any" radar map to loop (animate) on the Blackberry Storm 2 9550.
I had no problem with my previous Blackberry Curve 8330.

Under preferences is a setting turnon/off my location box must be checked and locate on startup must be checked. Also there is a help box under preferences Email Developers. I got answers back in less than 24hrs even on weekends. Originally before they updated it was after 9PM before the Icon changed to night time. They told me to be sure and use exit under preferences when I exited. Also under temp when open there are little windows currently today in one I have a red triangle because we in Central TX are under fire alert because of the dryness again. The second window to the right opens a map of the GPS area. with weather info on them Id you click on the Folders in the map on the right side it will open the Following:
Save
View Weather
Full Screen
Radar is one choice
Change Layer Opacity 0% to 100%
When you choose Radar it is a map of your area based on Zip you originally put in you can drag your finger on the map and move around. Unless there is current storms in the area it will show nothing except a quiet landscape with cities in the area by the entered zip plus there are minus and plus you can zoom in or out of an area.

Thank you LCromwell.
I followed your directions and it still does not work.
No matter what site I have gone on I can not, under any circumstances, get a weather radar loop to work, from any site and I have been on many, on my new Blackberry Storm 2 9550.
From what I have read the Storm 1 had no problem, but the Storm 2 9550 is having problems.
I also read that Verizon has stated that Storm 2 9550 is not allowed, to get radar loops, which I find absurd.
This was supposed to be a upgraded phone from the Curve 8330 that I just got rid of and I had NO problem, what so ever, with any site I went on, for a weather radar loop. With the Storm 2 9550 none of the sites work at all anymore.
This has to be a phone issue and not a web site issue.
Thank you for your time anyway!! It is much appreciate!!

Mike, I would go under preferences, help, email developers and tell them your problem. If it can be made to happen, they are the ones who write the program for all phones. Good luck. Weatherbug has been very responsive in the past.

Welcome to our unhappy club. Same for us. We bought the Storm 2 in order to GET looping weather Radar. I was on the phone with Verizon support - the support staffer could only tell me it works on her storm. Weather loops on my friend's Curve.
We tried EVERY free weather download available. NOTHING LOOPS. You can change and reconfigure your screen refresh, screen size .... doesn't matter.
I took the phone into the Verizon store where we purchased the phone days before. Sales Rep told me the software has not been written for the 9550 that allows Animated Radar.
Great. $279 down the drain.
He then told me the update "might come out today." yeah, right. That was a week ago.
I am really angry. I asked why I wasn't warned of this situation. He said Verizon is not responsible to know which apps work or not.
Has anyone heard any differently? I have researched this situation for 2 weeks straight.

Did anybody find an answer to this. I have tried multiple settings, multiple radar loop sites, and I still can't get radar to loop. I can see that it is loading the multiple images but I don't actaully see the loop. I have several radar loop sites bookmarked from my Curve and they worked great there (including WeatherBug). With my Storm2 I get no looping on any site.

I had the same problem. I searched all of the weather sites trying to find one that would work on my phone. I finally found that if I go to Weatherbug and into Weatherbug Mobile Web in my browser, I can get it to work. Go to the Radar & Maps section and below the map, to the right of the zoom in and zoom out button is an arrow that will animate the radar. I just bookmarked the page. I hope it works for you.

Thank you gtowngirl for your input.
I took my phone to the Verizion store where I bought it and the two tech girls there, had the same exact problem with their own Storm 2 9550 phones and could not get any weather radar loops to work, even from Weatherbug.
One of the girls had BerryWeather and it worked fine.
I ended up having to buy the app BerryWeather at $9.95 to finally get a weather radar loop to work.
I am in the construction field and it was a must need.
Having to buy an app really **bleep** me off and it is evident Verizon has NO intention on getting the radar loops, on "free" sites to work, for the Storm 2 9550 as it did with the Curve.
I was told an update was coming. Yeah right!! Haven't seen one yet.
BerryWeather has its vaults as well. The GPS or cell location feature does not work to well.
I live in Nashville, Tn but the GPS/Cell location says I live in Iowa one day and Louisianna the next day, no matter what setting I put it on.
Yes, this is a phone software problem as well. It to has been reported to Verizon, and NO update or fix as of this writting.
I have several friends that work on the cell towers for Verizon and they have told me that the radar loop situation is on the top of the complaint list and Verizon has NO intention of coming out with an update to the software in the phone, to correct this problem.
I have been with Verizon since two years after their conception and never complained.
I have complained to them on these two issues and am getting a deaf ear.
I like the phone otherwise.
I did pay a lot of money for the UPGRADE and got a DOWN GRADE instead, in many areas.
To me, this is giving Verizon a bad name, that they refuse to take care of their customer needs.
I have friends and coworkers that are with other cell providers and their stories are worse than Verizon.
I'll stick with Verizon, but will be very careful in the future when I upgrade. $279.00 was a big hit for me, to have several things wrong with the phone that Verizon refuses to address.
