October 21st release date for Storm 9550

its possible but i need verizon and rim to crank out an official 5.0 os for storm 1 kids.

Is the 5.0 OS for S1 gonna make it run just as good as the S2?

I am torn what to do. I need a new BB soon b/c I broke mine (Pearl) this weekend and so I am currently BB'less, don't ask how I am surviving my days w/o a BB. I dont wanna pay $90 for a refurbished one when I can get a new phone in general, for just a bit more with an upgraded new 2yr contract. The S1 is so cheap, but is it worth the hassle. I am excited to see the S2 coming out soon.

How are you making it without your BB. I would be soo lost. I love my BB Storm, but if you can wait a couple more weeks I would get the Storm2. I haven't had any problems with my Storm.

Oh, IDK how I really am surviving. I am going BB crazy. Last night I was out with my friend who has a Curve, I think I pretty much stole if from her for 80% of the night!

of course the storm2 is going to be a bit faster because it has more memory than the storm1...the storm 1 and storm2 both have the same processor. but what makes the storm 1 run slow is the 4.7 os. i'm running 5.0.0.230 and its sooo much better than 4.7. much faster with the flick scrolling. now the storm2 is to be released with os newer than 5.0.0.287. and im not sure which 5.0 os is going to be the official os for storm1 within the next few weeks but it will be faster.

I am sorry you have had such a hard time, but looking at your small number of posts, you have not availed yourself of the collective help this board provides as well as Verizon BB team help I suspect. It is not too late to get help. The main two things with a Storm is to keep apps closed when you are through using them and to keep the memory level as high as possible including, but not limited to, pulling the bat. once a day.

PS: If you do not know how to clear the memory, PM me and I will explain it step by step.

You will be dissapointed if you think Oct 21st is the release date. It might be announced on that date but not released.

Im hearing early Nov 5th area.

Vodaphone is releasing first and they have not announced it ( its announced two weeks prior to launch) they dont even have any in their warehouses.

yes it looks like nov for the 9550. vodafone is releasing on the oct 26th...so verizon will be later. sorry people that wanted the oct 21st day...but the release date for the 9550 will be on a later date.

Im glad you approve of my SIGNATURE.

I can read perfectly. I am not reading between the lines on the start dates of internal workgroups to be the release date of the Odin. I think everyones a little gunny for this phone. I would still wait till next month before you see this phone. Nov 5th area

I just talked to Verizon rep. They definitely can't confirm or deny the date ... But what they said that it's definitely won't be the same price and most likely it won't have any kind of discounts. At least it was always the practice of Verizon.

Based on  the above I'm not going to wait to return my Storm 1 ( I still have 30 days grace period ) because the difference will be in hundreds $$

i believe verizon will offer discount. vodafone is releasing 9520(storm2) on oct 26. so for people that want the storm2 it should be soon. also vodaphone uk is giving this phone away for free with a 2 year contact. check the website. so i think verizon will discount this phone. bogos are flying around on the internet about the storm2....hopefully verizon wil give a good deal on the storm2.

Fine.  Keep what you believe it will be released on.  However, there is way too much documentation and evidence it'll be on the 21st.  If not the 21st, the 28th.  It definitely wont be later than that.

But your free to your opinion.

thats what everyone said about the 14th of October....and here it is and gone...and no storm 2.  What ever happened to just being patient??
