Ordering my new Blackberry online

Newbie here. I have two questions about ordering my new BB Tour:

1. Should I order it from a store, so I can have them set up my email and other features, or is it easy enough to do myself. I would like to order it online only because my 2 year discount is automatic online. Ordering it through the store, I have to mail in the rebate(even though the guy is going to give it to me $20 cheaper). And the rebate isn't even a check it is a Debit card.

2. If I do order online through Verizon, how long does it usually take to receive the phone?

This is my firat BB, so I am sure I will be on this forum every week.

Thanks for any help with my questions.

Hi,

Welcome to the forums.  Let me tell you what I did to get a Tour.  I got on the phone and called customer service to speak to a sales person.  They answered all my questions.  I ordered my Tour over the phone, recieved the instant discount at the time of the sale, and recieved my phone 2 days later.

Set up was easy.  Blackberry includes a step by step setup guide that helps you with initial setup for the phone.  I'm not a big techno cell phone geek (sorry guys) and it was easy to setup.  My advice is to call a sales person and order.  It's fast and easy.

I did mine thru the store, the rebate came in 3 weeks which is two weeks before my bill is due. Verizon has a system in place where you can apply the debit card to get the $100 applied to your account it to me was simpler than doing it on line and having a learning problem later and then having to go to the store. By the way the store sales people get some kind of credit for their sales.

Having been in sales over for 40 years, I highly recommend going into the store for your final purchase, but thats me! :smileyhappy:

Going to the local store was easy for me as well...I just like the personal touch, and never seem to feel it over the phone.  As for the New Every Two discount, you do get it at the time of purchase, not as a mail in rebate...or at least that's how it was handled when I bought my Tour about a month ago.  I hope this helps with your decision!!

L,

I did not realize they give the debit cards.  I guess I was used to the way Alltel did things which was a mail in rebate form which I hate to fool with forms.  I have enough forms and paperwork at work to fill out all night and hate filling out forms.  I guess I probably would have gone in the store too.  Kudos point to you...
