Question about my blackberry's data plan

hello, I just recently, about 2 weeks ago, bought the blackberry storm, and with it I was "required" to also buy the 30 dollar UNLIMITED!!!!! data plan. i recently got a text telling me I've used 90% of my data allowance. so at this point the only thing going through my mind is"lawwwsuitttt" cause the thing about UNLIMITED is there is NO LIMIT. and 5gb is a limit in my book. in anybodys book really. so my question is "is the 5gb limit real or what?" im not really sure what to think at this point. Ive read things on the internet that go both ways. ive read one article about how they shut off your service once youve used the 5gb and ive read other ones about how people have went over the data allowance and werent charged a penny. so im just looking for a sure fire answer.

-thanks.

The $29.99 is unlimited data directly on the device. Your "data" allowance can also include text messaging or if you use the device as a tethered modem there's a 5GB allowance for that. But for data directly on the device it's unlimited. Lawsuit, don't be silly. Even if you were serious you don't have the resources for that.

i wasnt implying that i was gonna sue them. i was implying that "someone" would eventually. i yes i do have the resources for that so dont say i dont. you dont know me. the only reason im still with crappy verizon is cause thats what every else has where i live. if it wasnt for that i would have the iphone on at&t. it was very foolish of verizon to turn down the iphone in the first place.

and is it possible for me to buy more allowance so i can continue to tether?

You don't have the resources to sue Verizon Wireless. :smileyvery-happy:

And no, you can't buy more of an allowance for your tethering.

So move somewhere else and get an iphone. :smileytongue:

{please keep your posts courteous}

Second u can't tether with the iphone 3GS and even if at&t allow it in the future good luck with ur 5GB cap and I hope you do enjoy the price of that phone when you switch, few months later apple will release another iphone but this time with flash on the camera that will attract childish people like you to pay $300-$400 for a few other features only lol

Unless something has changed, there is an additional charge for tethering, over and above the BlackBerry data plan.  I can't image how someone could use 5GB of data on a BB unless they are tethering.

You do not necessarly need resourses to sue a company. It is called contingent fee, where as the lawyer recieves no fees unless money is recovered for the client. So the point of " resourses "  is a mute one refering from a client stand point. A laywer would be stupid to turn down suing a multi-billion dollar corp if there is some clear and common sense thing like this.

Now IF you were on a Jury, and you seen that this was advertised as UNLIMITED but really has a hidden 5GB limit, it would be clear to me to rule for the plantiff in the case. This is a no brainer on false advertising if someone decided to file.

Then "unlimited data" is only for emails and web browsing on your phone. If you use your Storm as a  "USB Modem" on computer the 5gb limit apply.

Can BlackBerry Storm be used as a tethered modem, Connect to your laptop, as long as you have unlimited data? Or do you still have to purchase an air card?

If you're asking me, yes the Storm can be used as a tethered modem. But there is a 5gb limit on that portion of data. If I'm not mistaken, the unlimited data is only for email, web browsing with only the Storm alone, not while tethered. As for MMS and SMS, they are part of a different package of the Storm. Hope this helps, I used a USB Modem to let me go online with my computer, but it did not work out. Reason because of 5gb limit and it supports "only one" computer at a time.
