Question about upgrading multiple lines to Blackberries

I am on the primary line of my Verizon account and have only one secondary line on it. I want to either get just me a Blackberry, or both lines one. I know there is a 29.99 monthly package I have to get when I get a Blackberry. But if I get blackberries for both lines, is that monthly payment doubled? Or would it only be on mine? And would it be added on to my calling plan I have now?

Also, would I be able to do one of those deals where you buy one phone and get the second phone for a second line for free?

Hi,

The data plan is required for each Blackberry you have on your plan, no sharing of data plans.  To take advantage of the special offers from Verizon Wireless, you would need to be elgible for upgrades on each qualifying line.  For example, if you wanted to buy a Tour at the special discount price and get another Tour for free, you would need to be elgible for upgrade on at least two of your lines.  If you only qualify for discount on just one line, you could take advantage of the offer and get the "free" one added as another, new line on your plan.  Obviously that would not be cost effective since you probably don't need an extra line, so you could at least take advantage of the low price without getting the free line.  My advice would be to call one of Verizon's customer service specialists who will be happy to answer your questions about upgrading your lines.  Dial *611 as a free call from your Verizon Wireless device.

Thank you for answering my questions! Both of my lines are eligible for upgrades. The only problem I can see is that the secondary line is a month-to-month line, and is on a very basic plan. I'm wondering if I would have to completely change the plans and also make the second line a two year contract? Or would I be able to just add the Blackberry data plan on the primary line, while the secondary line is still a pretty basic plan?

Hi,

To answer your question, no.  Any discount prices are subject to the user entering into a contract, in this case, the free phone would be on the secondary line you have month to month and it would change to a two year contract.  A Data plan is required for each line that has a Blackberry.  For example, I have a family plan with 3 Blackberry devices.  I pay for 3 seperate data plans, one for each line.

Oh okay. So, I just want to make sure I have this right. The plan I have on my lines now is the Nation wide talk and text plan with 700 minutes and unlimited texts. The bill comes out to 108 every month. If I want to make both the lines Blackberries, I would add the 30 monthly data plan twice, leaving the total bill monthly about 168. Is that correct?

Hi,

That is correct, you will add about $60 bucks to your bill and you will have 2 Blackberry phones on your current plan.  You already have unlimited text, you stated, so you can text till the cows come home.  Good luck.
