What model BB Bold do you have? 9650 or 9930?

BB model 9330 is a Curve model and is not mobile hotspot capable. 

If you actually have a 9930 then your handset has both a keyboard and a touchscreen display.  If this is true, what OS version are you running?  You may need to update the OS (operating system) to utilize the mobile hotspot function.
