I plan on getting the Black Berry Bold 9330 (certified pre-owned) because it's cheaper. I have a feeling the certified pre-owned ones are just the ones people returned because they were causing trouble, not working right, malfunctioning a lot and verizon just updates it and cleans it and just sells it for cheap to get money. But besides the point is it worth getting one? when A iphone4 is 50 dollars cheaper or an android that has all the things i want that the blackberry has excpet for a physical qwerty keyboard. (calling, texting, emailing, reading emails, notes, for a job, facebook, twitter, web browsnig, taking pictuers, videos,) espically beacuse all i see on the black berry bold 9330 reviews and it's forums is that it's not a good phone, malfunctions, not working all the time, and stuff like that. any suggetions?

It depends if you're getting it for business or personal use.  I have a bold for work, and right now I have an android smart phone for personal use.  I by FAR enjoy my android phone to my blackberry, and I hate my android phone.  I will be switching over to the iPhone in June.  The blackberry is perfect in a business application, I don't think there's a better phone out there that syncs as well with Microsoft products.  However, as a personal phone, it is pitiful at best.  If you're concerned with the physical keyboard, don't be.  Losing a physical keyboard is a small price to pay for a much better phone.

I wouldn't touch Blackberry until Blackberry 10 devices start coming out later this year. Remember: there is a reason why Blackberry is falling into smartphone oblivion.

I currently have the Bold 9650, which I love.  I use it primarily for email (I get roughly 50-75 emails a day for business, maybe 20-30 of those are notifications from mail lists, another 20 or so are ones I reply to via my phone), phone calls, and texting for my business and keeping in touch with family.  The apps I use are utilities - Quick Pull, BB Protect, My Verizon - a couple of games I rarely play, a banking app, Facebook - and the phone has performed wonderfully in the year I have been using it full time as my primary device.

I am considering the Bold 9930 as my upgrade when the time comes.  I had the touch screen Voyager prior to the BB, and that (the touchscreen) seems like a worthy addition to the Bold 9650.  Wi-fi, a better camera, a bit larger keyboard, and a slimmer profile all appeal!  But that's me - for the uses you said you need in your original post, I would say the Bold 9930 would work for you.

As far as buying a pre-owned, the Bold 9650 I have now was a Verizon CPO device that I got free with my NE2 - it would have been $50 with my upgrade, and the extra $50 NE2 credit made it free.  I would have paid $100 for a brand new one, but I have had no issues that were not easily resolved (always due to something I did - there's nothing wrong with the phone at all!)  with this pre-owned one whatsoever.  I would not hesitate to buy another pre-owned.
