Tethering with Storm 2

Since my Storm was updated last week I have not been able to tether with my lap top.  I was able to before with no problems.  I am using both Desktop Manager and VZ Access.  My phone is recognized by both software's but will not connect to internet.  I have update both Desktop Manager and VZ Access with downloads from internet.  I found that if I start Desktop Manager and connect with IP option it seems to connect but if I try to get on internet or continue with VZ Access my phone is no longer recognized.  Do any of the stores have personnel that will be able to help me?  Is there a known issue?  Finally I do not like when an update changes my personal setting for spell check and other items!
