I hope this doesn't screw things up but a person on BB,coms bulletin / message board sid to go to home screen push BB buton to show keyboard and then do number lock (hold it down for a sec) and then type in "/"/" and then go back into BB button and there should be a delete event log. Suppose to open up more memory.

I delete my event log pretty often. On my Curve 8330 it definitely does a lot of good and really helps with preventing freezing and lagging.

Oh my Tour and Curve 8330 to get to the log file I hold down the ALT key and type L-G-L-G to pull it up. I imagine it's different on the Storm because of the touch screen.

I have the Storm also, I purchased the Quicklaunch application, and use it to help me access some of the memory management functions that I use so often.  A couple of the most useful ones I find are "Delete Call Log" and "Event Log" to help clean things up.  I have a horrible memory and find keying in obscure codes into the Storm's keyboard a bit tedious, so this works for me.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the purpose of the event log.  What exactly do I lose and or gain if I delete it?  Is it something like cache or cookies on my PC??  Thanks for your help!

Lose? Not much unless you understand the inner workings of a Blackberry and can debug information from the event log.

Gain? A little bit of memory that can be difference between lag and no lag.
