Update Glitch with SMS on Storm 9530?

My system updated today and the update changed the SMS system. SMS now has smiley faces (not needed) and the screen is very, very, very user unfriendly. How can I return to the previous system? Or, is there a fix coming real soon?  The new SMS look and operation has really made using SMS text messaging impossible. Thus there is little value in having unlimited text messages, Not only can I not read what I am really sending, I cannot easily read what I am receiving.

This has seriously negatively impacted my use of the device, and I am sure others are having the same issues.

I do not like this part of the update either. I find it very difficult to forward mms/sms now. errrrrrrrrr  Do the smiley faces show up on the recipients phones? just wondering.
