I have been through to many Blackberry Storms in the last year. 5 to be exact and going on 6. The first problem was the screen would mess up. For example if I wanted to call someone it would show part of the menu screen and part of the phone screen and would not allow the keyboard to show. When I called Verizon they said they would mail me a new phone. (NOTE: These phones are my business phones. If they don't work I lose business and I also have a personal BB phone my daughter uses. They all have had problems). The new phone I received started to work fine but then my other Blackberry started to shut down by itself every once in awhile even while on the phone with clients. This also started happening with the personal BB my daughter was using. I called Verizon again and they mailed us new BB Storms. Then the new BB's received started to have the following problems within a couple of weeks of use. One would freeze up when dialing a number or trying to text, another would show the menu screen when calling someone or someone would call and I would hear the ring but only see the menu screen and the person could not hear me when I tried to answer the call but I could hear them. Verizon was called again and I was upset that all they could do was mail me new BB Storms again. When we got the new phones they worked for a little while then we started to have these problems with two of the BB storms. One started with a message that pop up every time I tried to look in my contacts or dial a number and got an error message "Uncaught exception java.lang error". This also happens occasionally on the other phone(we have not added any apps to the phones or downloaded anything as well), now my phone doesn't work and shows an App Error 523 Reset Message while the other phone once in a while still shows the other message. I called Verizon again and they give me the same crap as before. I will not recommend Verizon to anyone who wants a smartphone. It's just not worth the money, lost in business or my clients fustrations. I'm also sending in a complaint. I'm fed up.

I have had my S1 since August and only has had 1 replacement within the first 2 weeks. There was a problem with the mic sounding muddy. My second S1 has worked flawlessly. It does have to have a battery pull at least once a day. You do have to click the switch applications and make sure everything is closed you opened. You do have to keep up with your available memory and if it gets too low, you get the problems you are talking about. So i think your problmes are not knowing how to maintain your phone in good operating order. You mention it works great at first. That's your biggest clue right there. This seems to be your first post do some Storm searches there is plenty written about how to fine tune it and keep it in tune. Do you know what OS you are currently running?

I would agree with you if I hadn't been dealing with smartphones since the late 1990's. The memory was not the problem and people I spoke to had some similar issue with there blackberrys as well. Normally I can fix most issues cause I know the problem or the reason for the error. I have walked into Verizon stores and had their Techs look at my phones. If they can't figure out the issue and suggest I get a new one, I would conclude it not being a user error. I don't keep a lot on my phone that's what I have a laptop for. I should have kept my first BB Storm which I had no problems with when I first purchased it back in 11/2008, but when I had to get two more back in 09/2009 I gave that one family member. So as much as it would be easy to claim that it is because of my lack of knowledge, it just doesn't fit this case. BB OS v5.0. I just got the website to download OS. So I'm going to try that before having to mail another phone in. Wish me luck.
