What's using my data?

I just purchased a Blackberry Bold 9930.  Other than the first 2 days, I have not used any data, visited any webpages, etc.  I do not have email set up yet.  However, Small amounts of data are being used every day; sometimes several times a day.  Is there some function on the phone that uses data even though I am not initiating it?  It really is small amounts, but since I'm not doing anything to use data, I don't know where it's coming from.  Any help would be appreciated.

Blackberry Messenger is always on from what I can tell, that could be using your data. Also, your Blackberry uses data when it is "checking" for information. (This is what I was told when I called Verizon and was transferred to a Blackberry rep one time) And when you do set up email; your Blackberry will automatically check every so often for emails and such. Also as already stated it could be any apps you may have installed on your phone.

Have you owned a BlackBerry before?  If you hold the Alt key and hit the back arrow (next to the trackpad) you can see all the "apps" that are running.  Hitting the end button doesn't automatically close things all the time and things like Facebook may still be open, transmitting/receiving data.

GPS signal, BBM, a browser window left open, a game that's still open - you can do a battery pull to be sure everything but the necessary stuff is shut down.

Even so, I have a hard time using even 100 MB on my BB - well under the 2 GB minimum tiered plan, and I currently have the unlimited data, which I will keep for as long as I can in anticipation of going "Droid" one day....
