When does the VZW update for new OS software for the Torch 9850 ? Will they send an email it is ready for download?

Hello LCromwell,

     Keeping your device up to date can be very beneficial.  I can clarify the update options available on your Blackberry Torch.  The last update released for this device was dated 1/16/12.  This version is OS 7.1 Release 457 (App: 7.1.0.163, Platform: 5.1.0.137).  Here is a link with information on this update.  At this time, I do not have information regarding future updates for the Torch.  When an update is released you are notified directly on the device.  Also, when connecting your device to your computer and using the Blackberry Desktop Manager you will be alerted of an update.  Please let me know if I can provide any additional assistance with your device or service.

I received the new version (Platform 5.1.0.137) on my BB Bold last night and now I can't get to my screen.  What I have now is an alphabetical listing of my apps.  It wouldn't even allow me to turn the phone off/on, I had to reboot by taking the battery out and it still takes me to the alphabetical listing.  How do I get it to my home screen (favorites).  Seems as though I've tried everything.

The download did state some "Uncaught exceptions", i.e. java.lang.NullPointer Exception: java.lang.Nullpointer; java.long.Error; and ApplicationRegistry.wait for.........timeout.

HELP PEOPLE. I have the same problem after installing software upgrade my phone is screwed. SAME EXACT THING!!!!
