Why won't my device sync contacts or calendars with BB Link?

It worked well for a while but lately it does not sync. Has there been some sort of update applied that would cause this. Any ideas?

Local sync to a computer connected via a USB cable is a dying feature. Most operating systems are now geared toward cloud-based sync for contacts/calendar. Even when a manufacturer includes the option for local sync these days it's usually sketchy and unreliable. Ironic with BlackBerry because they made their name with security, and cloud is way less secure than local when it comes to storing your data. Seems if anyone would offer reliable local sync capabilities it would be BlackBerry. But alas, it seems nobody's local sync is robust and reliable.

As for your LinkedIn contacts getting included in your contacts list on your BlackBerry, it was probably after an update to the LinkedIn app. The default choice for all of these social media apps seems to be to enable contacts sync. The good news is that you can usually find the setting to turn it off in either the app itself or in general settings. Maybe both.

Lipster52, we would not want you to miss anything out of your device.  No updates have been reported causing this type of issue. When did this issue start? Are you getting an error message?

Thank you for your response. Usually I am up on changes and think that there may have been a connection though I do not know when this happened.

I received a call one day and a picture came up that I had not downloaded. It seems that somehow, my LinkedIn account got “linked in” to my address book. I don’t like that by the way.

Anyway, I am not sure when that happened in relation to when I could not sync but that is the only change that I can think of that could have happened.

I really need this ability.

Thanks for whatever you can do to help.

LIPSTER52,
Appreciate knowing what you noticed on the phone it’s always important. Have you restarted the phone since then, or remove the linkedin app from the BB since?

I have restarted the phone numerous times and have now removed LinkedIn. Still will not sync.

The message says:

CPreferencesmanager: Configurations Value for/Preferences/Account_2_131074 sync accounted_2 not set in transconfig.xml for translator RIM BB

What I need is someone to walk me through correcting this. How can I get that?

Thanks,

Doug
