Will the 9.99 data plan work?

I have a 9.99 data plan and use a KIN TWOm, I also have a Blackberry Curve and like to use it for the GPS capability and geocaching.

 

Question, can I periodically activate the BB for a few hours simply to use it for the GPS?

You can, but you will have 29.99 prorated for a day

I am going to guess it will be easier said than actually done.  My recommendation is the YOU confirm by actually trying to do what you want and then see what happens.  Then you will know if it works and if any problems (if there are any) make worth it to you.

Well, it's going to be a pain changing your plan each time, and your bill will be crazy because both your data plans will be prorated. And you may be able to only make two changes per month to your plan. But yes, you can do this.

 

I have to ask though, if you're already paying $10/month for data, why not just activate the BlackBerry as your primary phone? It's only $20/month more, and with all your prorations, it'll be even less of a difference. Plus App World has some geocaching offerings that might make it all worth it.

Thank you everyone for your help. You can switch between the KIN and Blackberry as often as you need to. There is no restriction on the number of feature changes including add-on data features each month; that only applies to calling plan changes. Since the 29.99 data plan is unlimited, you will not have to worry about data overages from partial billing. However, the 9.99 data plan will be prorated if it is not active for the entire month. If you switch the KIN back on the same day, you shouldn't have any issues. If you do have data overage charges for one day the KIN was reactivated in the same day, contact customer service to review your charges for accuracy. If there are any errors while each phone was active, we will credit the charges.
