Did it get wet? Sometimes that causes phones to do crazy stuff.

Otherwise, try the usual battery pull to reset it, and see if that helps.

My Curve started doing the same and the battery pull did not work.  I replaced the battery and it stopped hanging up.

I would also check for updates to the phone.  I used to have issues with the phone freezing due to multiple appointments from Outlook.  I did an update and that took care of that issue for me.  Before I did this, I had to do the battery reset.
