Nope, the $29.99 data plan is REQUIRED for Blackberries.  No exceptions.

My understanding is that you must have the data package added when you purchase the phone from Verizonwireless; however, you have the right to remove that feature 24 hours later (takes that long for the system to fully add it).

If you purchase a verizon phone from a third party, you call the customer service number and have them switch the phone while you wait - no data package.

BEWARE: If you do not have a data package and you use Web, email or other data services you will be charged by usage.

This only works for basic phones - smartphones REQUIRE a data package.  You do have options as far as the data allowances; and they have been changing over the past few months. But you still have to have a mini mum plan with smartphones; you can only use the Pay as You Go plan for basic phones.

You added the data plan after the change.  You will not be "grandfathered" to that plan.  You must already have the $30 unlimited data plan on your line in order to have it from this point forward.  If you did not then you can no longer get the plan.

All smartphones require a dataplan.  2Gb data plan is the smallest they have.  Since you activated your smartphone you must have that plan.

the unlimited data plan if you activated a few months ago you could have gotten the unlimited data for the same price sadly.  Just bad timing I guess.

Sadly would be hard pressed to.  It doesn't show up in the system from what they say.  They only have the option to roll back a certain number of days to get you the plan if you already had it within that time frame from what people were told.

In actual use, you will be just fine with a 2 GB allowance on the Blackberry.  I rarely use even 100 MB; 2 GB is more than sufficient.  On a Droid or iPhone, maybe it's limiting, but not on a  BB.  Just my 2¢ !
