blackberry international roaming - resend service books while roaming internationally?

Hi. I'm using a Blackberry Tour, roaming internationally in Korea. Everything works perfectly, email, facebook, etc. However, I'm thinking of doing a wipe of my blackberry handheld (to remove unwanted applications). If I do a wipe, will I be able to resend the blackberry service books, while roaming internationally? Or will I encounter difficulties in setting up my emails again, and will have to bring my device back to the US so it can be setup again.

Thanks in advance,

Bob

Enter in # # 0 0 0 0 0 0 + SEND will let you access the programming menu. Under the first two fields; Mobile Directory Number and IMSI_S you will enter in your mobile number. Under Home SID you will enter a number that is specific to your area code/prefix. So you may want to look at the programming menu before you wipe the phone, that way you can take note of the settings and just copy them back in.

Yes, you will be able to resend your service books. However, you will not be able to reprogram  your phone after the wipe. You'll need to dial *228 and that won't work while roaming internationally. Yes, you can manually program the phone but it can be a bit tricky to do. You can remove the applications without doing a wipe of the handheld. Just go to your applications list in your Options icon. You can delete them from there to free up memory.

Thanks! What does the reprogramming / *228 do? Is that still necessary if I only use my blackberry for email/data, and not for voice?

Sorry I didn't get back to this sooner, you may have already had your issue resolved and received an answer. But just to confirm, yes reprogramming your phone with *228 or manually programming the phone is required even if you're not using voice services. The programming isn't just for voice. Once you wipe your handheld it wipes all programming information from the device, so it has no way of knowing how to connect to anything. Your phone number is what's used to create an authentication key for the network, without your phone number it cannot complete authentication.

Roaming internationally you will not be able to dial *228 so you'll need to reprogram your device manually. I can provide instructions for this if you need them.

Again, I apologize about the time delay.
