I plugged my device into the computer to sync music and erased my contacts... is there anyway of retrieving those contacts?

Have you previously performed backups using Blackberry Desktop Software? Another alternative is if you had utilized the Verizon Backup Assistant program which saves the contacts online.
Are you sure that you erased your contacts? Sometimes they get hidden (or filtered), go into the contact list and go to Menu/Filter and make sure that you have not 'filtered' them by deselecting any checked categories.
