hello, ive owned my bb tour for a couple of weeks now, i love the bb maps and also use google maps, this gives me gps navagation (works great! no 10$ a month fee), but no turn by turn spoken directions.

does anyone know of an app or download that offers turn by turn spoken gps navagation for free, or even a one time charge.

It's not a one time charge but vz navigator is pretty legit.  I can't stand google maps

Do a search for amAze.  It's a voice turn by turn that's free.  I use it when I need one on my Storm.  It's doesn't have the best functionality in the world, but for free I'm not complaining one bit.  It just takes some getting use to.  I don't know if it works on other phones, but give it a try.

thanx for the suggestion, i tried amAze (seemed pritty cool), but verizon block's the gps signal. i called verizon

and argued till i realized it wouldnt do any good, the rep told me that i would have to use a verizon app or an

approved app world app. they got me......nothing is for free, not even free stuff...

You need to go in to the phone settings and turn on GPS then it will work. :smileyhappy:

Also when you are trying to type anything in and get it to accept it you push the BB button and there will be an okay in the list to accept.

I rechecked gps settings under tools, advanced options- it is (ON). blackberry maps work, it locates me right away, so does google maps, but when i installed amAze the maps were fine but my position could not be located, it sed coud not locate satalites. i know the problem is not with the satalite becouse if i switch apps it will locate me. if it is not verizon locking the

gps, then i have no idea what it could be.

Ok my Storm has this in my manual:

1) Click options

2) Click Advanced options

3) Click GPS

4) Set the GPS Services  field to  Location on

So looking at my screen I have this:

1) GPS Data Source = Device GPS

2) GPS Services = Location On

3) Location Aiding = Enabled

You can download the maps, and they will work, but you cant use the gps to locate your self . the verizon wireless rep told me so!!!!! (thats a third party app)
