how can I get verizon cloud to backup my contacts? When I bought this phone two months ago it took TWO HOURS on the phone with verizon to get my contacts to transfer. Now the phone is again refusing to back up. I'm thinking this purchase of blackberry classic was a mistake.
I don't suppose you use a Gmail or an MSN/Live account which can backup your contacts automatically. I know I used the Gmail app on my 8330 way back when.
This is the way to backup. Use a free email service like Gmail or Outlook. You can sync your calendar/contacts wirelessly and constantly. When you get a new device you simply set up that same email account and all your data comes streaming onto your new phone. I've never had any luck with the Verizon cloud services and I generally recommend folks stay far away from them.
That's my usual OM on Android since ditching BB in 2010.
Great question Emily as I am having the very same problem. I do not understand why Verizon is not work with Blackberry to RESOLVE this problem. Verizon Tech Support is absolutely NO HELP. They (Verizon) only offer their cloud on the new Classic 10 and yet it does not work. So sad that Verizon is doing NOTHING at all.
I never found Verizon's cloud backup to be reliable, and I've tried using it on multiple platforms (iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Phone). Not surprising considering Verizon makes it available for free as a convenience to users. The reality of modern smartphone operating systems is that they are all designed to work with more robust solutions like Outlook.com, iCloud, or Google. Verizon simply cannot dedicate the resources to match those other cloud-based solutions.
However...25GB Cloud space is paid for with the More Everything plan. I don't use it, but it'd be nice if it worked for those who do want to use it...since they are paying for it.
