For those of us who are not on the unlimited minutes plan...there should be an alert when we are nearing our minutes limit....not fun having to pay for those minute overages..

Great idea, maybe Verizon will pick it up. They send a message when you update your roaming, why not when you are getting near your max. min. you have on your plan.

I assume you do know that if you see you are going or have gone over your limit you can change your plan right in the VZW web page to the next higher plan if that would be cheaper than paying the extra min. chg. Then in the next month roll back to your former plan. They do not chg. a change fee to do that. That is how VZW got me to give up my 1000 anytime min. plan I had. I was not using 450 min a mo. since I am unemployed, so my rate went from $60 a month to $40 a month. I have the data plan at $29 a month, so I am really only paying $9 extra for my data plan in the almost 2 yrs. since I switched, I have not gone over once.

I understand your concern regarding your minutes alerts. You can go online and sign into your online account to view the minutes used or dial #MIN on your handset which is airtime free.

With all due respect, that really doesn't accommodate the request.  What we are looking for is the ability to go to ones profile and define text alerts as it relates to ones minutes.  Bank websites do this all the time, where they allow you to define a text alert if one's checking balance falls below a certain amount so they can take action.   This is a more proactive approach.  Most people are too lazy or have too many more important things to worry about to then to remember to check the website or call Verizon for a minute usage summary so they don't go over their minutes. Is this a feature we can expect in the near future.  Any college Computer Science grad can easily add this feature to a web site.  Its common practice in other industries.  If you can't please explain why.

Thanks

Why would Verizon spend money on a feature that would COST THEM money in lost revenue.  If you are to lazy or to busy (your words) to insure that you don't go over your minutes, then you deserve to have to pay the overage charges.

Hi,

Actually, therre is an app out there on Blackberry App World that does just what you want.  Plus, I believe it is free.  Go into Blackberry App World and search for Mobile Minutes Tracker.  It is listed under Utilities.  Hope that helps,

Doc

It's like saying "If you're too lazy to calculate your gas mileage, then it's your own fault for running out of gas".  Why should the car manufacturer turn a little light on when the gas gets low to warn you?  Do you write down how many miles you go after every trip to be sure you keep your mileage in check?  No, because there's a gauge in the middle of your dashboard that shows you the results while you're driving.

This is a long overdue feature and I'm glad to see that others (Blackberry app and a Firefox extension) have started to fill the gap.

Also, "too" is a word and question marks are usually put at the end of questions.  Maybe you were busy or were just being lazy.

Ther are multiple ways to find out your minutes. Just doing a simple #MIN will tell you your minutes and it is free. They also have the MyVerizon app which gives you the same info. Most Verizon phones have it preinstalled. Its like you gas meter... Just because you like to stretch it to the limit without looking at your gas meter. Most people would look and see quarter tank and assume to watch their driving until their next fill up. I never wait until the gas light comes on...
