I would like to tether the device to my laptop - I know this is possible.
The question I have is wether I can receive calls (or make calls ) while I'm surfing (or tethered) to my laptop.
No you can't. The technology that VZW uses does not support simultaneous voice and data. So you won't be able to do both at the same time.
