Yes, this is real. Several million customers are getting emails to upgrade to an advanced device even if they're not currently eligible. You can call Customer Service to take advantage of the offer. They have a Campaign look up tool to verify you're eligible.

Nothing here.  I even called CS before hearing about this and they shot me down.  But the CS rep was nice enough to explain my upgrade dates to me, gee thanks!  I know a contract is a contract but I'm going to renew anyway you would think they would go ahead and allow it and make a few more bucks now instead of a few months from now. Oh well thats life I guess.

So where is this Campaign look up tool can't find it anywhere on VW site?

If you get the email then you're eligible. It is being communicated to all Customer Service reps. Whether or not they choose to keep themselves up to do date is up to them. Also, you may sometimes be in contact with an outsourced rep, in which case they usually don't have knowledge of this campaigns.

As I said previously, all Customer Service agents (direct, anyway. I don't know about outsourced) do have access to what they call the Campaign Look-up Tool. Any CS rep who's worth their salt will know how to use this tool. If you did get the email then you're eligible for it. If the CS rep pushes back, or doesn't know what the heck you're talking about then ask to speak to a manager. Or if you're really having that much difficulty I can try to get you in contact with someone who can help.

They should offer the early upgrade to all S1 owners and let them decide if they want to upgrade or not.  Instead lets throw some names in a hat and the lucky ones get the opportunity?????  Of course not all of the winners will upgrade so what have you accomplished other than upsetting the current owners who would like to upgrade?

Oh did I mention the Open GL will not be available to S1 phones?

Come on VW you are better than this don't let us down..................... How about a comment from one of the VW folks that are on here?

This from RIM:

"With OpenGL ES support, Java developers will have the ability to build 3D games and graphics for BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry OS 5.0 and higher. "

Michele,

One question about this early upgrade.  Is it just the yearly upgrade that is available to primary lines on certain accounts?

Looks like that promotion is over with.  It has pretty much quieted down on a couple other forums.  February isn't that far away now.  I still would like to know what the criteria was for it though.  I did test the water couple times.  Called CS and enquired about it three times.  First call and last said they were aware but I wasn't eligible.  The second call I made the girl I talked to put me on hold when I asked about it and when she came back a couple minutes later she advised she or her supervisor never heard of the promotion, sorry but I call **bleep** there.

My final test was at my local BestBuy.  I asked the VZW sales guy there about the "early upgrade for select few upgrade" deal.  At first he "never heard of it" but when I pulled out a printed web page containing the add he admitted he was aware of it!  He offered to check my account to see if I was eligible, again a big no!

I would just like to know why so many CS reps deny they know about the promotion but obviously do?  I am a loyal VZW customer but please don't lie to me...................

Be patient not everyone is getting the letters at the same time, think of the call volume that would create!
