Need help finding a 3rd party jetpack compatible with a gUDP, please.

After over 14 years of having a gUDP, Verizon says that the Netgear AC791L is no longer compatible with the grandfathered unlimited data plan, and I'm unable to purchase a jetpack device through VZW without having to change my current plan.

Can anyone recommend a jetpack that will work with a gUDP via a 3rd party.  There seems to be mixed reviews regarding what hotspot device will work with this plan.

Thank you for all your assistance.

Avy1, we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your device and the compatibility. What specifically happens when attempting to connect? When did this begin? Does this happen when connecting with multiple devices or just one specific device? LorenB_VZW  If my response answered your question please click the _Correct Answer_ button under my response.  Since the begining of this month, I've been on limited connectivity with an AC791L and can only access the Admin page.  I have the exact jetpacks and an older model and have in the past been able to swap out the sim card and be connected, but after calling tech support, they said that this model jetpack has been retired.  I cannot buy any product through Verizon without needing a new plan, yet I can purchase a 3rd party Verizon device and retain the gUDP. I specifically asked what device is compatible with this unlimited, unthrottle data plan.  They recommended the 8800L, which requires a nano sim.  I have a nano sim that has never been activated and simply would like to activate the nano sim on a new jetpack  and deactivate the micro sim in the 5+year old device and retain my current plan, hut after several calls, transfers to dept. and tiers.  and here's the kicker...

THERE IS NO DEVICE THAT CAN BE ACTIVED UNDER MY CURRENT gUDP

Verizon is not complying with their own ToS where it states all plans will have a compatible device.

Please elevate this issue so that Verizon will honor their contract.

There are no contracts to honor, your hotspot line would have been out of one ages ago.

Wireless internet isn't a replacement for a home connection. You also share a resource with millions of other subscribers. Verizon is trying to get people off that plan for a reason.

If you are referring to the a grandfathered unlimited data plan for mobile broadband internet, no 4G LTE Jetpack, mifi, or USB modem should have been able to be activated on that plan. This was specifically mentioned in 2010 when the first 4G LTE USB modem was announced for the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. The 4G LTE devices were not compatible with that plan. If you had managed to activate a 4G LTE device on the grandfathered unlimited data plan for mobile broadband internet, lucky you but the loophole that made it work might be and should be closed now.

Now if you have the grandfathered unlimited smartphone data plan feature, there might have ways to trick the system into thinking a Jetpack was still a "smartphone" line. How long that particular loophole will work is another story.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

That is crazy to see that Verizon is trying to get you to get rid of your plan. You do have choices though, please disregard the two previous post before this one as they are misinformed and giving you false information. I also have one of those grandfathered plans and the beauty of them is that you are able to use your data however you like. I know someone who is using the Novatel 5510 MiFi device with their unlimited data and have had that for years and no you are not violating the TOS as we are still operating under the old unlimited Nationwide 4G data TOS. Go to eBay and buy a used 4G MiFi device and pop in the sim and it should work. I have explained this in previous threads and they still hold weight today as we have not changed plans to the new "unlimited" plans. Other posters might give their opinion and tell you that you are violating TOS and that is simply not true. Good luck in keeping your plan and stick it to Verizon for introducing these lame new plans to consumers.
