Phone I purchased is on no pay list

I bought an iPhone X brand new from a Verizon store, a few months later we switched to t mobile and the contracts were bought out. The remaining balance on the entire account was paid and the account was closed. A few months after, I try to go back to Verizon and that phone is on a no pay list and they force me to buy a new phone. What the garbage?

No, I just want to use the same phone that I was using before
