The great news is that in most cases, you can absolutely use a smartphone from a postpaid (contract) account on a prepaid line of service by following the steps in #1 at https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/activate-switch-or-bring-your-own-device-faqs/ . You can also use the steps in #4 under General Information at https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/prepaid-plans-and-service-faqs to verify the prepaid eligibility of any device you may want to bring over to your service.
