Hi I’ve had a $200 Verizon gift card since December and they refuse to help me apply it to my bill. I was told it can be used as cash towards my bill but there is no way to do it online and customer service refuses to assist me.

I know I would be using a $200 gift card the same way, Pgodna. There is certainly an option to make a payment online using a gift card, and I am here to help. Please follow the steps listed under the Using Tab > "How do I apply a Verizon Gift card to my Verizon mobile bill?" here: https://www.verizon.com/support/gift-card-faqs/

I am on auto pay. I receive a $20/ month discount for using auto pay. If I change my payment I lose my monthly discount. This doesn’t make any sense from Verizon. They offer a new customer deal for discounted using auto pay and then a $200 gift card but in order to use the gift card towards your bill you need to stop auto pay. This is ludicrous and I’m not following some online FAQ that isn’t helpful. Customer service rep should have been able to resolve this for me and they didn’t.

Pgodna, you don't need to apply the gift card as the Auto-Payment method to make a payment. You can make a one-time payment using the Verizon gift card. This is confirmed in the Auto-Pay FAQ: https://www.verizon.com/support/auto-pay-faqs/
If you look at the question, 'Can I make a one-time payment, even if I’m set up for Auto Pay?' it confirms that a one-time payment is possible. If you pay off the current balance, then Auto Pay will not withdraw from your usual payment method for the month. If you make a partial payment, whatever remaining balance will be paid by the Auto Pay system using your normal payment method.
So there's no need to change your Auto Pay payment method. I highly recommend just using the gift card to make a one-time payment. All the ways to do a one-time payment can be found here: https://www.verizon.com/support/pay-bill-faqs/
There's even a payment website which requires no My Verizon login: https://www.verizon.com/digital/nsa/nos/ui/payment/otp/login#/
You can enter your mobile number or account number on that page. Then use the billing zip code from the account, and complete the reCAPTCHA ‘I’m not a robot.’ Once you’ve entered the info and hit continue, you can then proceed to payment. And as confirmed in the FAQ, Verizon gift cards are an accepted payment method via that site.
