Promotion not being honored

So I switched to Verizon at the end of July because there were some great promos going on for bringing your own devices. I was told at the store by the employee who sold me the phones that I would be receiving a $200 gift card as a rebate and it should arrive in 8-10 weeks. There was not ONE time he mentioned that I had to redeem it online before 30 days of purchase date. So I talked to several reps online and all have given me multiple different excuses, one sent me to the rebate center (who can’t solve this for me it is customer service’s job), one told me that I do have a pending gift card that was never redeemed, and the last told me that there never was a $200 gift card rebate promotion at the time I ported my number over. So somebody in this long line of people I’ve talked to is lying to me, and I’m ready to just pay off the phones I have currently and switch to a carrier that is more upfront and honest about their promotions, and make it straightforward to earn.

On a side note: I was also told that I would be elligible for a student discount, and was not told that it is only for 2 lines maximum. Not as big of a deal though as that $200 gift card that swayed my decision to switch, and now I’m not getting it. Super frustrating, hopefully it gets honored, if it doesn’t I’ll pay the 2k just to switch out of principle.

I had the same issues. I never got the student discount I was promised at the store when I ALSO switched in July 2023 or subsequent calls to customer service. They would keep me on hold and talk in circles and give me a credit which would sometimes show up as an extra charge later on. I feel like my time was wasted and a bit insulted. They did this until it was too late to leave the contract. My problem isn’t really isn’t about the discount…why would someone want to pay a company that treats them like this. I plan to pay off my devices and leave…based on the aggravation alone. I spent usually over an hour 5-10 times for 25$ discount that was offered, validated, and confirmed by multiple people  just to be revoked later. They claimed it was with the system and there was no one I could talk to. It’s crazy too, because I’ve used Verizon since they were an insignificant  DSL company before they entered cell phone market.
