Happy Wednesday! Glad to see your daughter is joining America's Largest, Most Reliable Network.
Before making the move, make sure the device is unlocked from her current carrier.
No need to swap SIM cards, however, if needed one can be shipped provided at a local store at no additional fee.
Let us know if this info helped.

Every time I've ported my number to a different carrier, it required a new SIM card. While the Verizon agent is correct that any device being brought in from elsewhere must be unlocked, I can't see how an AT&T SIM card would work on Verizon. You would have to remove that SIM and get a Verizon SIM, or else download a new eSIM from Verizon since that iPhone supports eSIM.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

As the other customer member said and not the Verizon rep, you need a new SIM card or eSIM to activate the phone number you ported over from AT&T. The phone number does NEED to be ported to Verizon for it to work on the Verizon Wireless network. If the person wants to keep using their current phone, they also NEED to verify it is compatible with the Verizon Wireless network and the phone has been SIM unlocked from the AT&T network prior to you porting over the phone number.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
